Privacy Policy

Version 2026-07-19. Effective 19 July 2026.

The short version

Solon holds your investment positions and your private reasoning about them, which is sensitive. We collect what the product needs and nothing more, we do not sell it, and we do not show it to anyone else. The parts worth knowing: your thesis text is sent to an AI model provider so it can be drafted and graded, and voice notes are sent to a transcription provider. Both are described below.

What we collect

Account. Your email address, used to sign you in. Sign-in is a link sent to that address; we do not store a password.

Your portfolio. The tickers, share counts, and cost bases you enter or import, plus everything you write or dictate: thesis text, claims, price targets, exit levels, and chat messages.

Usage. Product analytics about which features are used and when, and error reports. These deliberately exclude money: no position sizes, prices, cost bases, or portfolio values are sent to our analytics provider.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for or store brokerage credentials, bank details, government identifiers, or payment card numbers, and Solon has no connection to your brokerage account. If you import positions from a CSV file, that file is read entirely in your browser and is never uploaded: only the ticker, quantity, and cost basis you then confirm are sent to us.

Who else processes your data

We use third parties to run the service. Each receives only what its job requires.

Model providers (AI). To draft a thesis, grade claims against news, or answer a chat question, we send the relevant thesis text, the tickers you hold, and your claim grades and target weights to a language model provider. This is the most sensitive transmission we make, which is why it is named first. We do not send your email address with it, and we do not use your content to train models.

Voice transcription. If you dictate, the audio recording is sent to a speech- to-text provider and the returned text is stored with your thesis.

Market data. To fetch prices, fundamentals, news, and earnings dates we send only ticker symbols. These providers never receive your holdings, sizes, or identity.

Infrastructure. A hosting provider runs the app, a managed database stores your data, and an email provider sends alerts to your address.

Analytics. A product analytics provider receives feature-usage events and errors, without financial values.

Name each provider explicitly before launch, and link their terms.

Where it lives and how it is protected

Your data is stored in a managed database, encrypted in transit. Access from the application is scoped to your own account, and database-level rules prevent one signed-in user from reading another's rows.

We keep encrypted backups in private storage so an account can be recovered after a mistake. Backups are retained for 30 days and then deleted.

How long we keep it

We keep your portfolio for as long as your account exists, because the product's whole purpose is comparing what you believed then against what is true now. Delete your account and we delete your data from the live database promptly, and from backups within 30 days as those expire.

Your choices

You can view and edit everything in your portfolio at any time in the app. You can ask us for a copy of your data, for corrections, or for deletion by writing to [CONTACT EMAIL]. Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your personal data, including the right to complain to a regulator.

Voice input is optional. Typing is always available, and never sends audio anywhere.

Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember basic interface state, such as when you last visited so the app can show what changed since. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.

Children

Solon is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes and contact

If we materially change how we handle your data, we will ask you to accept the new version before you continue. This policy is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME]; questions go to [CONTACT EMAIL].
